where in taiwan could i find the best deals and great shopping?

hi im going to taipei this august. could you tell me where can i shop for the cheapest yet good items?

1. What are you looking to purchase? Shopping in Taiwan probably won't feel much different than shopping at home. The items they carry and where you purchase them tend to be the same for me as they were back home. You go to a mall (they call them department stores). If you're looking for something uniquely Taiwan to have as a souvenir, I would suggest one of their hand puppets. There's a puppet museum in Taipei that is worth checking out. www.TaipeiPuppet.com They sell the traditional hand puppets. You can get a genuine one, which will cost a lot of money, or get a cheaper one for about $500NT (About $15 US) Some of the Buddha/other religious statues you find will be interesting as well. For just regular stuff at a fair price, I found the mall at the main MRT Station to be fairly priced. You might be able to find some good inexpensive stuff at the night markets, but I've only found cheap crap there. But I don't go to them really. Just not my cup of tea.

3. For Ladies Shopping : Wufenpu > Shihlin NM > RaoheSt NM> Ximending. There is also the Taipei City Mall (Underground) Behind the Taipei Main Station) As mentioned above Carrefour RT Mart, Geant have Clothing and shoes sections that have branded and unbranded at discount prices.
