Is a typhoon strong enough to topple a hotel?

Just saw the news of the typhoon that rocked Taiwan again my heart goes out to those who lost loved ones and so many hurt or injured and such a loss of property and personal belongings. I did not know that a Typhoon ot Tsunami could actually knock down a hotel and the waves of water are undermining bridges and massive super-structures, homes etc.Help if you can.
